Miguel Angel Jaldin, Inka Kings’ founder and musical director was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, the
“Land of Eternal Spring”
*
At age twelve, Miguel Angel founded his first musical group, “Los Cusis”
(Happy Guys in quechua, Incas’ ancestral language), winning the National Festival as the “Best of New Duets”.
*
The group stayed together for four years until Miguel Angel decided to travel to Brazil to continue his studies.
*
Back in Bolivia, he founded the group TARPUY, together with
Fernando Leguizamón (second voice for Zuma Yugar), Alfredo Coca (ex Savia Andina),
Hugo Romero (ex Intiwara) and Luis Chugar (Boliviamanta, currently living in France).
The group’s own themes were focused on satiric humor mixed with commentaries of social
connotation, winning a record contract with the label Discolandia.
Tarpuy was the first Bolivian group to record a modern style musical video.
*
Afterwards, Miguel Angel toured Europe performing in
Sweden, Germany, France, Denmark, Italy, Spain and Switzerland with the group “Los de Lavayen”
and the Swedish singer and charanguist Nina Dimitry, under the direction of
the extraordinary and internationally known charanguist Julio Lavayen, original member of the group
“Los Kjarkas”.
*
One of the “Los de Lavayen” most important performances was at the worldwide known
“Cochabamba International Fair” in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
*
Miguel Angel was also a participating musician with the “Ballet Nacional de Cochabamba”
which won the Gold Medal at the “Worldwide Folklore Festival” in Dijon, France,
under the direction of Professor Mario Leyes. 165 countries participated at that festival.
*
He co-founded, together with Gonzalo Hermosa, a composer and director of the group “Los
Kjarkas”, Dexter Perez, director of the group “Amaru” and Hugo Romero,
the “Artist in Folklore Association” (ARAS-Folclore) in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
*
Miguel Angel Jaldin has made of Los Angeles, California his home.
In 1991, together with his brother Severo formed INKA KINGS,
taking the responsibility to broadcast the Bolivian and Andean music in the USA
by performing concerts and presentations in festivals, colleges, clubs, theaters and resorts in
California, Nevada, Texas, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, Arizona, Illinois and Florida among other states.
Inka Kings have also participated in radio and television programs and in feature films.
*
Inka Kings is considered the outmost representative group in the United States
that combines Andean music (Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador)
with Caribbean/Tropical, Flamenco, Classic and Melodic rhythms,
interpreted with Andean instruments: “zamponias” (pan flute), "quenas" (recorder),
"charango" (ukelele-like - small guitar), "bombos" (tom-tom), etc.
and contemporaneous ones (guitar, bass, drum set),
creating a new and fascinating fusion of music, rhythms and styles.
